Energy consumption indicators and system configuration
Energy efficiency is one of the core advantages of an on-site nitrogen generation system. The operating power consumption mainly comes from the air compressor, the switching valve groups of the adsorption towers, and the control system. By using high-efficiency permanent magnet variable-frequency air compressors, optimizing the adsorption cycle, and minimizing ineffective gas loss, the specific power consumption per unit of nitrogen can be kept within a reasonable range:
- Reference specific power consumption: 0.23–0.28 kWh/Nm³ (at 99.5% purity)
- The packing density of the carbon molecular sieve and the tower design are precisely calculated to effectively reduce pressure drop across the adsorption towers
- The automatic control system (PLC/touch panel + remote monitoring) records purity, flow and energy consumption data, facilitating operation and maintenance management
A typical system configuration includes: air compressor package, pre-filtration units, refrigerated or blower regeneration air dryer, dual- or four-tower PSA module, nitrogen buffer tank, pressure control valve groups, online purity analyzer, and explosion-proof electrical control system.
