Blast Nitrogen Generator
In modern industrial operations, on-site nitrogen supply is no longer a luxury-it is a necessity. The blast nitrogen generator (model series) delivers a reliable, cost-effective alternative to liquid nitrogen or cylinder delivery. Engineered around pressure swing adsorption (PSA) technology, this system extracts nitrogen from compressed air with exceptional stability, making it a preferred choice for processes where purity and continuity directly affect output quality.
Core Operating Principle
The system operates on a simple but highly engineered cycle: purified compressed air passes through dual adsorber vessels filled with carbon molecular sieves (CMS). Oxygen, water vapor, and residual CO₂ are preferentially adsorbed under pressure, while nitrogen-being less strongly retained-flows through as the product gas. When the on-stream adsorber reaches near-saturation, it automatically depressurizes to regenerate the CMS, while the standby vessel takes over. This alternating cycle ensures uninterrupted nitrogen flow with minimal moving parts, reducing mechanical wear and long-term maintenance overhead.
Purity & Flow Performance Matrix
| Purity (% N₂) | Max Flow (Nm³/h) | Typical Application |
|---|---|---|
| 95% | 350 | Inerting, tank blanketing |
| 97% | 280 | Food packaging, pharmaceutical blanketing |
| 99% | 200 | Electronics reflow, laser cutting |
| 99.5% | 150 | Chemical transfer, lab purging |
| 99.9% | 90 | High-precision annealing, additive manufacturing |
Flow rates are referenced at 0°C, 101.3 kPa, with inlet air at 7.0 barg and 25°C.
Operational Parameters
- Ambient temperature range: +5°C to +45°C (with optional cold-climate kit)
- Maximum inlet air temperature: ≤45°C (after dryer)
- Minimum inlet pressure: 6.5 barg / Maximum: 10.0 barg
- Power supply: 220V/50Hz or 110V/60Hz (control system only – the blast nitrogen generator consumes no electrical power for separation itself)
- Specific energy consumption: 0.25–0.35 kWh/Nm³ (at 99% purity, including compressor losses) – among the lowest in its class.
Technical Specifications (Standard Model BNG-200)
- Adsorber material: 316L stainless steel internals, carbon steel shell with anti-corrosion coating
- Valve type: Pneumatic butterfly valves with <0.5 sec actuation time
- Control: PLC with 7" HMI, fully programmable alarms and remote start/stop
- Dewpoint (outlet): ≤ -40°C (without additional dryer)
- Particle filtration: 0.01 µm coalescing pre-filter + 0.01 µm after-filter included
- Noise level: ≤ 75 dB(A) @ 1 metre.
Industrial Applications
This system serves industries where uninterrupted inert gas is critical:
- Chemical & petrochemical – reactor purging, catalyst transfer, and storage tank blanketing.
- Electronics manufacturing – wave soldering, reflow ovens, and component drying.
- Food & beverage – modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) and silo inerting.
- Pharmaceuticals – API transfer and fermentation vessel blanketing.
- Metallurgy – heat treatment, sintering, and powder metal processing.
- Marine & offshore – pipeline purging and cargo tank inerting.
The blast nitrogen generator adapts to fluctuating demand via its modular buffer tank design, ensuring purity remains stable even at 60–110% load variations-a feature valued in batch-process environments.
Certifications & Compliance
- CE marked (PED 2014/68/EU, EMC Directive)
- ASME Section VIII Div. 1 (optional for US-bound orders)
- ISO 8573-1:2010 Class 2.4.1 for oil and particulate content (with specified pre-treatment)
- GOST-R and ATEX-compatible options available upon request.
Customisation Capabilities
Beyond standard skid-mounted units, we offer:
- High-altitude tuning (up to 3000m)
- Corrosion-resistant coatings for coastal or H₂S-bearing environments
- Integrated O₂ analyser with 4–20mA output for closed-loop purity control
- Dual-frequency motors and explosion-proof electrical enclosures
- Containerised or trailer-mounted designs for temporary site deployment.
Service & Lifecycle Support
Every unit includes a full documentation package (P&ID, electrical schematics, FAT protocol). Our after-sales framework includes remote diagnostics via 4G gateway, predictive sieve replacement alerts based on actual duty cycles, and global spare parts dispatch within 48 hours for critical components. We also provide on-site commissioning and operator training with performance verification tests.
Engineering Notes
For optimal sieve life, inlet oil content must stay below 0.01 ppm-we recommend pairing with an active carbon tower. The system's turndown ratio exceeds 4:1 without compromising recovery rate, which directly translates to lower energy bills. Also, the PLC logs historical trend data for all critical parameters, enabling condition-based maintenance rather than fixed-interval servicing.
At Shenger Gas, we treat nitrogen generation as a system-level challenge-not a standalone machine. From the first airflow calculation to the final purge cycle test, our engineering team integrates decades of adsorption expertise into every blast nitrogen generator we ship. We don't just sell equipment; we deliver documented purity, verified efficiency, and transparent technical collaboration that begins with your process data and ends with a fully documented, site-ready solution.
For detailed sizing worksheets or custom pressure ratings, our application engineers are available to review your specific operating envelope.
