Modular Nitrogen Generator Skid

Modular Nitrogen Generator Skid

A modular nitrogen generator skid is exactly what it sounds like: the air treatment, nitrogen separation, and control system are all mounted and piped onto a single steel base frame. We fully wire, pipe, calibrate, and test every unit before it leaves our shop. On your site, installation means connecting power and compressed air—no welding, no chasing leaks across a dozen loose components.

Product Introduction

A modular nitrogen generator skid is exactly what it sounds like: the air treatment, nitrogen separation, and control system are all mounted and piped onto a single steel base frame. We fully wire, pipe, calibrate, and test every unit before it leaves our shop. On your site, installation means connecting power and compressed air-no welding, no chasing leaks across a dozen loose components.

Think of it like a plug-and-play substation, but for nitrogen.

This setup is common in petrochemical plants, oil and gas fields, marine vessels, coal mines, and overseas EPC projects. We've seen too many traditional nitrogen supply methods fail in the field: months of installation, heavy crane work, and shipping headaches. A skid fixes all three. It ships like a container, lands like a machine, and runs like a built-in plant.

How It Works

Depending on your purity and operating conditions, we use either PSA or membrane technology. Neither is "better" overall-each fits a different job.

PSA (Pressure Swing Adsorption)
Uses carbon molecular sieves to grab oxygen under pressure. Two towers alternate: one adsorbs while the other regenerates. This gives you continuous nitrogen at purities from 95% up to 99.999%. We typically recommend PSA for applications like purging a reactor or blanketing a chemical storage tank.

Membrane nitrogen generation
Uses hollow fiber membranes. Different gases permeate at different rates, so oxygen and water vapor exit through the fiber walls while nitrogen moves straight through. Ideal for 95% to 99.5% purity, especially when you also need a low dew point-think offshore instrument air or food packaging.

What's Actually On the Skid

We don't ship promises. We ship a fully integrated assembly that includes:

  • Air compression (integrated or customer-supplied)
  • Multi-stage filtration and drying
  • Adsorption towers or membrane modules
  • Nitrogen buffer tank
  • PLC-based automatic controls
  • Pneumatic valves and stainless steel piping

The skid base also includes lifting lugs and fork pockets. No guessing where to hook the crane. No drilling holes on site.

Typical Specs – Realistic Ranges

Parameter Range / Description
Nitrogen purity 95% – 99.999%
Flow rate 5 – 2000 Nm³/h
Discharge pressure 0.4 – 1.0 MPa
Atmospheric dew point ≤ -40℃ (≤ -60℃ optional)
Ambient temp 5℃ – 45℃ (standard)
Energy consumption (PSA) 0.25 – 0.35 kWh/Nm³ @ 99.5% purity
Energy consumption (membrane) 0.35 – 0.55 kWh/Nm³
Power supply 380V / 50Hz (60Hz available)
Control mode PLC auto, remote monitoring ready

Energy numbers are based on standard ambient conditions. Your actuals will vary with inlet air quality and target purity-we'll help you estimate based on your site data.

Where Engineers Actually Use This Skid

We've seen these units work in real conditions, not just brochures:

  • Oil & gas – pipeline purging, tank blanketing, platform nitrogen protection
  • Chemical & pharmaceutical – reactor inerting, safe material conveying
  • Electronics – reflow soldering and component storage
  • Food & beverage – modified atmosphere packaging, beer and juice tank blanketing
  • Heat treatment & metallurgy – annealing and sintering protective atmospheres
  • Mining & tunneling – nitrogen injection to prevent underground fires

In every case, the skid format solves the same three problems: hard-to-transport equipment, too much site work, and difficulty moving between project phases.

Project Delivery – Built for Overseas Shipping

For large-scale and overseas projects, we design skid dimensions to fit standard containers. No special transport permits. No last-minute cargo surprises.

Here's what delivery looks like in practice:

  1. We review your gas requirements and propose a skid layout.
  2. We confirm interface points: power, compressed air, cooling water.
  3. We build and factory-test the complete unit, with test records provided.
  4. We ship in phases matching your project schedule, with installation drawings.
  5. Optional: our technician visits your site for supervision and commissioning.

Every unit is leak-tested, instrument-calibrated, and control-verified before shipping. Connect power and air, and it runs.

Customization – Because One Size Never Fits

Different industries have different rules. We customize:

  • Explosion protection – Ex d II BT4 / CT4 for hazardous areas
  • Materials – 304 or 316L stainless steel piping and valves
  • Environment – low-temp (-20℃), high-temp, or high-altitude configurations
  • Control interface – Modbus RTU/TCP, Profibus, DCS integration
  • Noise – acoustic enclosures if needed
  • Containerized version – fully housed in a 20ft or 40ft container for outdoor use

Service & Certification – No Empty Claims

We design and build under ISO 9001. Pressure vessels can be ASME-stamped, and export units meet CE requirements.

What you actually get:

  • 12-month warranty on the complete unit (consumables excluded)
  • Remote troubleshooting and technical support
  • On-site commissioning and operator training
  • Long-term spare parts availability

Why Shenger Gas – A Practical Choice

We're not the cheapest. We're not trying to be.

Shenger Gas has years of hands-on engineering experience in industrial nitrogen generation. The modular nitrogen generator skid is a mature product line we developed specifically for overseas projects and large industrial sites. From proposal sign-off to factory testing, every unit follows a structured process. We don't cut specs to win orders, and we don't overpromise just to sign a contract.

If you care about reliability, predictable delivery, and someone who actually shows up on site, Shenger Gas is an engineering-driven choice-not a sales pitch.
