The cryogenic air separation nitrogen generator produces high-purity nitrogen through air liquefaction and rectification. It is designed for continuous, large-volume applications where PSA cannot meet purity or stability requirements.

Unlike adsorption-based units, this process also allows liquid nitrogen extraction for backup or sale.

 

Working Principle

Air is compressed, pre-cooled, and purified before entering the main heat exchanger. After cooling to near liquefaction temperature, the air enters a distillation column. Nitrogen (boiling point -196°C) separates from oxygen (-183°C) through repeated vapor-liquid contact.

Pure nitrogen exits the top of the column. Part is sent to the user, part is condensed and returned as reflux. The bottom fraction (oxygen-enriched liquid) is discharged.

Cold balance is maintained by an expansion turbine. Once stable, the unit can run continuously for weeks or months.
